Annual Report & Legislative Agenda

The NC Child Fatality Task Force has released its annual report, which includes the 2012 legislative agenda. The Task Force serves as the policy arm of NC’s child fatality prevention system, which also includes the State Child Fatality Prevention Team, Community Child Protection Teams, and local Child Fatality Prevention Teams. Promoting strong policies to improve health, reduce death, and decrease abuse is central to child development. North Carolina’s child death rate has decreased by 46% since the inception of the Task Force. More than 9,200 additional children are alive today – many of them now adults – thanks to the lower child fatality rate.

More Children Died by Family Members' Hands than US Soldiers Killed in Iraq and Afghanistan

industrialized world. America's child maltreatment death rate is
triple Canada's and 11 times that of Italy. Over the past decade, more
than 20,000 American children have been killed by their own family
members – that is nearly four times the number of US soldiers killed
in Iraq and Afghanistan."

What is the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center?

  The Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a non-profit program under the Lincoln County Coalition Against Child Abuse organization. It was created by professionals from the child protection division, law enforcement departments, prosecutor’s office, school personnel, medical and mental health community, and by local individuals that recognized a need for a better way to serve young victims of child abuse.
